Before Lyrical existed, me and my friends played it manually. One person would shuffle a playlist on Spotify and pick a random lyric from the first song, then the other person would have to guess it. In November 2020, during lockdown, I decided to code it so I could play on my own whenever I wanted.

It started as a command-line application, as I experimented with how to connect to Spotify and reliably load lyrics. In the meantime, in order to ideate how the game would actually work, I designed the frontend in Figma. With all that complete, I was able to write and connect the frontend, and deployed it.
